Finals series', endurance races and season-defining events will make the coming weekend one to remember for numerous sports- but which event is the biggest?
1. The Supercars Championship is heating up, and the enduro's are beginning as well
"It's the most wonderful time of the year", no it isn't Christmas just yet- but for Supercars fans it will feel like it as the Pirtek Enduro Cup gets underway this weekend at Sandown.
Going into the event, Shane Van Gisbergen holds the slimmest of leads over closest challenger Scott McLaughlin- 19 points to be exact. One slip up from either driver could hand the championship to the other, as the points from races double during enduro races. With the biggest event of the year in the Bathurst 1000 just three weeks away, form is key heading into Sandown.
One of the best things about Sandown currently has to be the fact that it's retro round! Almost every car rides with a retro livery on the body, which provides a sense of nostalgia for a lot of fans and makes the round a fan-favourite!
2. The NRL Finals are getting interesting, very interesting
You got to love finals time in the NRL, everything is heating up- including the weather, and the tension in the air grows as the days draw closer and closer to the long weekend.
The Warriors and Broncos bowed out of the finals last week, with the biggest surprise being the Dragons finding form after missing it for the last few months. Should the Dragons continue their early season form, then they could be a dark horse- but with De-Belin and Widdop almost certainly out this week, the Dragons' chances look slim against South Sydney. Only time will tell.
The Roosters and Storm earned a week off, but whether the week off is beneficial or not for the sides is yet to be seen and we'll have to wait for it until next week. For now, lets just enjoy sudden-death footy. From here on in, one loss is all it takes to end the dream for another season.
3. Liverpool's title credentials will be put to the test this weekend
Liverpool have arguably started the Premier League season better than the rest, with a 100% win record and conceding just one goal. The praise has been given to their much improved defence, which was known for leaking questionable goals over the last few seasons- along with their star-studded front three in Salah, Mane and Firmino.
Their toughest test so far will come this weekend through the Tottenham Hotspur, who suffered a surprising loss to Watford last time out- a side that also currently have a 100% win record. Spurs will be looking to bounce back after the International break, and give Liverpool a shake. Like they say, games like this can be season defining- even if it's only 5 games in.
Check out these events this weekend, as well as any other high profile events.
